     August 1, 2003 | Spirit/Groo/Starfire Jam
    From Mike Negin

I saw something on eBay and I thought you might be interested in taking a look! It's a JAM piece by Will Eisner, Sergio Aragones and George Perez! It's actually very cool to see 3 comics legends work together! The item number is 2186060426.

Item number 2186060426: One-of-a-kind jam: Eisner, Aragones & Perez!
    Seller: born2run
    Ends Aug-05-03 09:20:52 PDT

Offered for sale is a one-of-a-kind piece of “jam art,” featuring three of comics' best artists: Will Eisner (“The Spirit”), Sergio Aragones (“Groo”) and George Perez (“New Teen Titans”). It's a truly unique drawing, guaranteed to be a real conversation piece when displayed!

The artwork was commissioned for the cover of a Houston, TX comics convention program 18 years ago. Included with the art is a copy of the convention program, as well as a document from one of the convention organizers validating its authenticity.

The pen and ink art is on a 12.5" x 12.5" piece of artboard. The art itself measures approximately 10" wide by 7.5" high.

The three artists were to be the guests of honor at a convention held over St. Patrick's Day weekend in 1985. Unfortunately, Eisner had to cancel at the last minute, so the convention featured only Perez and Aragones. The artwork, however, remains as a testament to the original plans.

The piece began as a very rough pencilled layout, conceived by the convention's art director. It then was sent through the mail to Perez, Eisner and Aragones in succession, and each artist contributed one of his major characters. Perez pencilled and inked Starfire from The New Teen Titans, then mailed the art to Eisner. (You can't see it on the picture, but Perez wrote a note to Eisner at the bottom of the piece: “Will - Spirit here. This is four [sic] March 15 Texas show - G Perez.”) Eisner pencilled and inked The Spirit, then mailed the art to Aragones. Aragones pencilled and inked Groo, then supplied the final touch – 25 small leprechauns attacking/harassing the three heroes.
