DETECTIVE COMICS #965 (27 Sep 2017)
DC Comics
James Tynion IV: In the "New 52," Tim Drake had a different
origin - a pretty fundamentally different one - that I think a lot of
fans of the character felt did not speak to the core of who Tim Drake
was.
What we did here - the scenes you're seeing played out here, word for
word, are scenes from the original "Lonely Place of Dying."
That was a very deliberate choice.
This is us bringing the spirit of "Rebirth" into the comic books,
because in order to really do a treatise on who Tim Drake is as a
character, we needed to ground him back in his most iconic origin, the
story that really defined him for a generation of fans.
So that's why we sort of - that's why we hammered that in right at the
beginning, making sure that fans know the definitive "Rebirth" origin of
Tim Drake is his original origin from "Lonely Place of Dying." |

This powerful image is a masterful nod to George
Perez's original piece for the introduction of Tim Drake into the Batman
Universe. It's the perfect cover for Tim's Return, after the Bat
Family's gut wrenching loss of him, last year! This issue also marks the
return of Eddy Barrows and Eber Ferreira to this Batman title!

Detective Comics #968 cover is an homage to Batman #442 posted Aug 21, 2017, 7:32 PM by Vu Nguyen
From cbr.com
In Detective Comics #968, Tim will finally escape his
current imprisonment at the hands of the mysterious Mr. Oz (whose
identity will be revealed soon in the pages of Action Comics). However,
as DC’s solicits tease, getting home is not quite the same thing as
surviving the experience.
The arc’s title, “A Lonely Place of Living,” is a play on Drake’s DC
Comics introduction in 1990’s “A Lonely Place of Dying.” The storyline,
written by Marvel Wolfman and drawn by George Perez and Jim Aparo, was a
crossover event between Batman and Teen Titans, and served to bring a
new Robin (Drake) into Batman’s life following the murder of Jason Todd
years earlier. The story was designed to illustrate how important Robin
was to helping Batman regain his humanity in the face of Todd’s death. Check out the cover — which homages the final chapter of the
aforementioned “A Lonely Place of Dying” storyline — and solicitation
text for the Tim Drake’s return, below.

- “A LONELY PLACE OF LIVING” finale! Tim Drake is back on Earth — but
if the deadly threat he brought back with him from outside of time has
its way, it won’t be for long…and this shadowy figure wants to take one
of Batman’s team down with him, too! Everything Tim died for the first
time is at risk, if he can’t survive this attack!

Exclusive DC First Look: September's Action Comics and Detective Comics Titles
by Russ Burlingame | June 13, 2017
DC has provided ComicBook.com with an exclusive first look at the solicitation text for Action Comics #987 and #988,and Detective Comics #965, and the standard covers for Action Comics #987 and Detective Comics #965.
The cover for Detective Comics is particularly interesting, as the image is an homage to George Perez's cover to Batman #441, the middle chapter to "A Lonely Place of Dying," the story arc in which Drake was introduced as the third Robin.
The upcoming Detective story is titled "A Lonely Place of Living," and sees Drake
trying to decide between escaping Mr. Oz's prison or staying behind -- a
decision made harder by a surprising revelation that fans will have to wait to fully grasp the gravity of.
