DC Comics Month-to-Month Sales: March 2007

29 - THE BRAVE AND THE BOLD
02/2007: The Brave and the Bold #1 — 92,091 [96,510]
03/2007: The Brave and the Bold #2 — 64,357 (-30.1%)
Mixed signals: The book started out with
excellent numbers, but this is a very steep second-issue drop. In part,
to be fair, that’s because issue #1 came with a 1-in-10 variant cover
edition and #2 didn’t; and the 4,419 additional units sold of #1 in
March do suggest that there’s demand for the book. Still, a third of
the debut issue’s sales has evaporated, and that’s not very
encouraging.

Fans on the lookout for George Pérez at
Wizard World Texas this weekend didn't have to look farther than one
booth—but once found, the artist was determined to make fans pay.
"I'm here to make money for the Hero
Initiative, and so far I'm doing great there," explained the legendary
creator of his work with the fund whose primary mission is to support
long-standing and retired creators. "I think I made at least a grand
yesterday, and I'll probably make another grand today. My goal was
always $500 a day, but I'm a sucker for charity."
In a rare moment when he didn't have a
lineup of autograph-seekers toting stacks of everything from classic
issues of Avengers to his most recent work on Infinite Crisis, the
always-excited Pérez updated Wizard Universe on the status of his
newest gig—penciling DC Comics' relaunch of team-up series The Brave
and the Bold for writer Mark Waid.
"I'm drawing issue #2 right now, and the
book's scheduled to come out in February," said Pérez. "I believe this
weekend Bob Wiacek will have finished inking the book, and Tom Smith
has colored about the first 16 pages. The book's running fine
schedule-wise, and I'm on page 6 or 7 of issue #2 right now and doing
the cover of issue #3. There's also a variant cover they asked me to
draw for issue #1. Every time I'm making momentum, they add more stuff
to my schedule to make me work harder to keep the schedule."

BALTIMORE 06: DC NATION PANEL
09-09-2006, 05:40 PM by MattBrady
Though the fire alarm played havoc with
the schedule of the panel just prior, the DC Nation panel at the
Baltimore Comic-Con began without a hitch at noon on Saturday, with DCU
Executive Editor Dan Didio opening the panel with "It's the special
fire drill version of DC Nation."

Q: Will Brave and Bold be all Batman team-ups?
Waid: There have been 15 heroes and 15 villains so far in the
issues he’s written, giving a sample – issue #1: Batman & Green
Lantern; #2: Supergirl, Green Lantern, Batman, Blue Beetle; #3: – all
of those plus Adam Strange and Lobo.
Q: Will we see Green Arrow team up with Batman?
Waid: Statistically, it’s got to happen. |
