FINAL CRISIS: LEGION OF THREE WORLDS #4 (May 2009)
Final Crisis: Legion of Three Worlds #4 Review
by Dan Phillips

April 29, 2009 - Grant Morrison's Final Crisis was a lot of things, but it certainly wasn't a conventional superhero crossover, nor was it in any way a true follow up on the previous two DCU mega-events to sport the word Crisis in their title. For that, fans have had to wait patiently for installments of Geoff Johns and George Perez' Final Crisis: Legion of Three Worlds to roll out sporadically. Luckily for us patient types, the series has been mostly worth the wait. This is grand, epic, action-packed superhero storytelling fueled by big ideas and somewhat gimmicky moments meant to make fanboys grin from ear-to-ear. If that sort of thing is up your alley, then you'll likely be able to forget just how late this book truly is.

In many ways, Legion of Three Worlds is more of a wacky melting pot of all of Geoff Johns' work over the past four years than it is a true Final Crisis tie-in. Elements from Green Lantern, "The Lightning Saga", "Superman and the Legion of Superheroes" and Infinite Crisis all collide frantically in these pages, and George Perez is probably the only artist alive who could fit all this material into one series without giving any character or idea short shrift. While reading this mini, I almost get the sense of Johns trying to push Perez' ability to depict huge numbers of characters to its limit, but as always, Perez never breaks. Like all of Perez' work, Legion of Three Worlds is downright baffling in its scope and density of storytelling, and the book is, above all else, a gorgeous sight to behold.

FINAL CRISIS: LEGION OF THREE WORLDS #4 (May 2009)
Legion of Three Worlds #4

The long-awaited fourth issue…is just about done! Here’s a look at a few panels I’ve got on my desktop…

Sweet, huh? George, Scott and Hi-Fi lit it up! (And, yes, Bart’s eyes will be yellow in the final book!)

For all fans of Bart Allen, you’re going to want to check this out.

In the mean time, I assume everyone already say this:

artspacehand

So whose hand is that? Krona’s? The Anti-Monitor’s? The Spectre’s?

Or…Nekron’s? :)
