x Crisis Re-Marked #13 posted Apr 25, 2016, 1:01 AM by Vu Nguyen
From comicmonarch
Hi - tough parting with this piece- you are
viewing a rare HC from Dynamic Forces and DC Comics that I have had in my
collection for several years and got directly from the Dynamic Forces
website.
This book is unique in that it has been signed by all series creators
including the late Dick Giordano, George Perez, Mike DeCarlo, Marv
Wolfman and Jerry Ordway. Best of all-the book contains 3 sketchs-one
of batman by Mark DeCarlo and a superman by George Perez on the first
page which is only in this
special edition (of which there were only 65 - this is number 13).
Also - I got to
see Mr Perez at a convention down here in Florida some years ago who for a
donation did a huge batman head sketch on the first page of the companion book
of this edition. A great rare book. |

WOLFMAN'S ABSOLUTE CRISIS
posted 01-06-2006 01:55 PM
BY JENNIFER M. CONTINO
Twenty years later, people are still talking about DC's original
earths-shattering event, The Crisis on Infinite Earths, one of the comic
book shots heard 'round the world. He even rewrote the entire history
of the DCU. In November, DC Comics released a special Absolute Crisis
hardcover edition. The collection included all twelve issues in one
volume and a second volume presenting special behind-the-scenes features
from both Marv Wolfman and George Perez.
(excerpt)
Wolfman said he thinks the word "Crisis" is used a lot because it's come
to mean something on a grand scale. However, it wasn't his idea to call
the saga "Crisis on Infinite Earths. He said, "George - who suggested
the title - based it on the original DC crossovers in the Justice League
of America: Crisis on Earth One. Crisis on Earth Two, etc. If it's
still being used it's because they, and we, made such an impact that the
word itself now is synonymous with epic and grandeur. If our book
helped foster that usage, I can be very proud that our work inspired
both readers and the endless parade of creators that followed us. A
crisis doesn't have to be a major event as George and I did. It can be a
Crisis of the soul, to use an used name for a Crisis spinoff. It should
be a real, emotional story about characters making major decisions that
affects others."

Well, not really, but you know what I mean. After a big year for comics
in 2005 saw the Big Two shake things up considerably, there are quite a
few things I’m looking forward to in 2006 as a result…
(excerpt)
5. Best way to show your comics some love! DC Absolute editions: DC
could potentially tempt more and more monthly readers to switch sides in
the “wait for the trade” debate with the unveiling of the first of its Absolute
editions in 2005. These exemplary volumes used an oversized, slipcased
hardcover format and high quality paper stock and printing methods to
present comics in the best manner I’ve ever seen. Taking a cue from some
of the great hardcover collections that Marvel comics have recently
turned out, DC has also included pages and pages of extras in these sets
(artwork, interviews, commentaries, pencils and variant covers) which
really add value to the books and offer tons of insight into the modern
classics which have so far been released in the format.
Batman: Hush and Watchmen were the first two stories to receive the prestigious “Absolute” treatment, with Crisis on Infinite Earths
following soon after in a satisfyingly weighty set. It really enhances
the pleasure of reading to have comics presented in such a definitive
format, and despite their high price tag these are really worthy
additions to any DC fan’s collection. I look forward to seeing what
comics receive the same treatment in 2006.
