Comic Book Review: ‘Superman’ #6
Posted Wednesday, February 22nd, 2012 02:00 pm GMT -5 by Scott West0
When Superman first arrived in Metropolis, he was feared. The citizens
of Earth did not know what to make of the alien who had abilities far
beyond those of mortal men, yet claimed only to want to protect them.
Even after half a decade in which Superman slowly gained the trust of
those people, there are still those who holdout and fear the day that
Superman will go bad and attack. Those fearful predictions were all
realized last issue.
Superman was attacked by alien entities and, afterwards, he began
eliminating people that he deemed threats… both to himself and to his
chosen home of Metropolis.

It’s nice to see how much thought and planning DC has put into tying all
of the New 52 titles together into a coherent universe. With this
issue, the elements of the flagship ‘Superman’ title fall in like Tetris
blocks, filling the gaps in other DCU titles like ‘Action Comics’ and
‘Supergirl’. I can’t wait to see how it all comes to a head when all of
these heroes come together against the villainy of Darkseid in ‘Justice
League’ #6.

Dan Jurgens clarifies George Perez's leaving Superman

George Pérez Wanted To Leave ‘Superman,’ Said Dan Jurgens
During the recent New York Comic-Con, word from DC Comics came that George Pérez, who was the star attraction for Superman #1, wanted to leave the title after his initial six issues.
Originally, Pérez was believed to be moving to the position of inker on Superman after Dan Jurgens begins penciling with issue #7. (Pérez already inks Jurgens’ pencils on the current Green Arrow comic.) But instead of inking Superman after Keith Giffen
and Jurgens take over, Pérez apparently will be penciling something
else for DC. It’s something he really wants to do, but no further
information was released, according to newsarama.
“George is going to be moving on to do some penciling work at this
point,” Jurgens said during an interview during the con. “And it looks
like Jesus Merino, who’s currently inking the Superman book, will be staying on to work with us. That’s how it’s looking right now.”

George Perez Off SUPERMAN Writing Duties as of Issue #7
By Albert Ching posted: 30 September 2011 02:05 pm ET
Newsarama has confirmed with multiple sources that
George Pérez is off as writer and breakdown artist of Superman.
The new creative team as of Superman #7 will be writer Keith Giffen and Dan Jurgens on layouts and/or pencils. Pérez may remain on the title as finisher/inker.
Pérez, a comic book industry veteran, had been doing Superman double-duty, both writing the book and handling breakdowns and covers. Jesus Merino provided finished art. Superman #1 debuted in comic shops this week.
This is the second of DC's The New 52 titles that Giffen has taken
over as writer. Last week, he was announced as replacing J.T. Krul on Green Arrow
as of December's #4, a book which also includes Pérez and Jurgens on
the creative team. This is the third DC New 52 writing change as of this
point — earlier this month, John Rozum stepped down as co-writer of Static Shock.
DC Comics declined comment Friday afternoon.
