PACESETTER: THE GEORGE PEREZ MAGAZINE #7
(Sep 2006)
|
I received #7 a few days ago and think it's TERRIFIC! It's the first
issue of Pacesetter that I've read and think the work is truly top
notch. Very impressive.
I was a big fan of George's in the 70's
with very fond memories of his work on the Avengers and Fantastic Four.
Especially Avengers #141 which was my first exposure to George's work. I
remember sitting on the steps and reading it and just amazed at what I
was seeing. So I'll definitely be ordering #8!!
Tony, you should be very very proud of
the fantastic work you've done. It's extremely rare and gratifying to
see such high quality on a project that's done just for the love of the
subject and not profit.
Thanks again.

NOVA #14 (Oct 1977)
|
Hi thanks for the kind feedback, keep them coming folks, this was a
truly not for profit issue, to be honest, I do make a little normally,
not much, but that's not why I publish Pacesetter, but this issue was
the first issue that I lost money, quite a bit as a matter of fact. But
to tell you I get goose bumps everytime I receive my copies from the
printers. And it is because of all you great Perez fans.
One more thing, The Man Called Nova
was the first series I really got into as a kid and is still one of my
favorite characters and one of my dream comics is a a Nova series
written by Marv and drawn by George, that would be awesome.
One more thing I still have back issues available, drop me a line at for more info.

Thread Started on 11/18/2006 at 5:32am
Hi everyone, I just want to let you know
that Diamond has informed me that 254 copies that were sent to them
somehow got damaged. I tried to get a quote to get them reprinted but
being it is such a small press run, it would cost me almost a $1000 out
of my pocket for these mistake, which I can't afford, I don't publish
PACESETTER to make money, but I don't publish it to lose money, not that
much any ways. If you haven't got your copy from your store, I have a
very limited number of copies left, 16 to be exact, you can order them
directly from me at:
$8.95 each, US
$10.95 each Canada
$12.95 each International.
If you could only order one copy per person to give as many people a chance to get a copy of my magazine.
I do have back issue still available, you can e-mail me at
You can pay by check, moneyorder or paypal

Hey gang, just want to make sure everyone has received there copy or
copies of PACESETTER #7 (contributors and the many great supporters that
ordered the book from me). The reason I'm asking, is I didn't over
print a lot on this issue, so before I can take any new orders I need to
make sure that everyone has received there copies. The following people
I've been trying to get a hold of so I can send there package to them,
if anybody help me get in contact with the following people that would
be much appreciated.
Rob Jones
Dick Giordano
Pat Murphy
Dan Jurgens
Geoff Johns
Marv Wolfman
Also if you missed a back issue of my magazine they are still available, some issues are sold out, so drop me a line at

Hey gang I want to give everyone a little up date how the next issue of
PACESETTER is coming, very slow, I've pretty much have gotten all the
material for the issue, I just received Jerry Ordway's interview back.
I've just got to make some more scans, and to start arranging material
to where they are going to go in the book.
I would still like to have some one to
write a review of Marv's new novelization of Crisis, anybody interested?
Free copy of the issue and credit in the issue for anybody that
contributes the piece. I just got the new collection, beautiful by the
way, I was sweating they were going to use a lot of the pencil pages in
the bonus book, well they didn't.
So in this issue (#7), the gallery will
be all penciled pages from crisis, 20-25 pages. We're just trying to
finalize the final cover art that we are going to use. It's going to be
another great issue in my opinion.
Back issues are still available if anybody is interested, you can e-mail at TLorenz101[a]aol.com

PACESETTER #7
Thread Started on 7/21/2005 at 11:28am
Hey Gang, how's everyone's summer, because a mix up at the printers,
they have already printed P#6 based on last issue, even though I won't
get final order numbers from Diamond until the end of the month, but
because of that I should be able to ship all advance orders the first
part of August instead of the end of Aug/beginning of Sept, so that is
good.
I'm now working on issue #7 the Crisis
issue, I would like to get this issue out pretty quick after #6,
shooting for November. The bulk of the material I have, big thanks goes
out to Kevin Brogan's for that. There's interview question I have to get
out to Dick G and contact Bobby Nash on the Focus on Feature. I'm
working on the gallery section right now, I have probably 25 penciled
pages from Crisis that I hopefully I can use them all in the gallery
section, if I have room. I'm working on the checklist. The following are
a list of items I need:
1. A comprehensive review on Marv's novelization of Crisis on Infinite Earth.
2. I need a Crisis related piece of art to use on the cover, I'm looking a few pieces on Vu's site.
3. Trivia, Crisis related.
4. Copies of original art pages from Crisis to use through out the issue.
5. I need more response for the question of the issue.
Please help gang, my magazine is only as good as it's contribution,
remember you receive credit in the issue, receive free comp copy and or
discounts and George receives every issue.
It you have any questions you can contact me at TLorenz101[a]aol.com [ ]

Re: question of the issue for P#7

The first time I met Mr Perez was at one of the very early Heroes Conventions... just after he had worked on the Titans/Batman crossover for the "Year 3" storyline. I had bought the Perez portfolio and brought that for him to sign.
So I'd agree Batman is something good to see him work on at DC. I remember some Flash covers also that he did way back, and seeing him on Flash wouldn't hurt my feelings either!
While he is my all-time favorite artist,
and I've enjoyed everything he has been associated with... I think the
"defining" Perez for me was his work on revamping Wonder Woman, perhaps because he got to show off not only his knack for detailed art but his writing as well + I am a sucker for mythology.

question of the issue for P#7
« Thread started on: 05/19/05 at 3:02pm »
posted by Tony
Well now that George has signed an
exclusive contract with DC, the question of the issue "What would
character or book would you like to see George work on and why?"
Here's a few things I think would be cool
to see George work on, Batman (he's never really worked on besides
covers and short chapters), any of the Kirby's Fourth World books (they
have all grand epics and lots of detail right up George's alley), Mike
Grell's Warlord (I don't know why, I just think it would be cool and
something different). Those are just a few that I would like to see.
I would love to hear what other Perez
fans would like to see, you can post it in the forum or e-mail me at
TLorenz101[a]aol.com [ ].
I'm now taking advance orders for issue
#6 of PACESETTER and I do still have backissues available, you can
contact me at the e-mail above.
