JLA/Avengers Delayed
11/03/2004
Sadly, due to an injury sustained to artist George Pérez's drawing hand,
the fourth and final chapter of the epic JLA/Avengers storyline has had
to be pushed back on the Avengers United schedule. The final part of
the crossover story will now see print in issue 41.
George Pérez has suffered a case of tendonitis in his right hand, a
condition where the tendons are inflamed, causing pain when the muscles
are moved. This occured after George spent three weeks illustrating the
amazing cover to the third part of JLA/Avengers (seen in Avengers United
#37). The cover was the most complicated in comics history, featuring
over 200 characters. Unfortunately, producing such a detailed piece
caused a major strain on his drawing hand. George has continued to
illustrate his dream project, but the pace of production has greatly
slowed.
In place of the JLA/Avengers story, Avengers United will be running more
classic adventures. Issue 38 sees a George Pérez-drawn storyline which
features a major turning-point for the team (see the Avengers United
section for more details), and issues 39 and 40 will provide the
conclusion to the epic Kree/Skrull War saga, with art by Neal Adams, Sal
Buscema and John Buscema.
We're very sorry for the delay, folks, but stick around Avengers United will continue to be Earth¹s Mightiest Comic!
