    1. Any reason why the Perez homage cover ? Are covers up to the artist or was it an editorial decision?
Stuart Immonen: This was some time ago and I've drawn a number of covers in the meantime, so it's difficult to remember exactly. The cover process if usually collaborative, with the artist submitting several ideas for an editor to see. I wouldn't have proposed this image on my own, so it must have been directed editorially. It's a classic image, and one that fans immediately recognize. It was fun to do with different characters, but still trying to evoke the same emotional response as the original.

    2. What are you currently working on and what can we expect in the future?
Stuart: I'm working on the Hulk, yes, but I'm almost finihsed my commitment to that series. At the same time, I'm working on a Superman limited series for DC with Kurt Busiek. I'm about to start working on a short story writtten by Kathyrn Kuder for the Matrix website and I just finished a small piece for Nickelodeon's February magazine.

Birthing primates has been a lot of hard, knuckle-draggin' work and now we're all ready for a little jungle jump and jive!!

Although the actual simian soiree (which will benefit the Charlotte Firefighters' Burned Children's Fund and the COmic Book Legal Defense Fund) will take place on Saturday night, the celbration - and the fun raising - will go on all weekend long.

Come join us at the official Gorilla Comics booths where you can have your comics signed, commission sketches, chat with cretor chimps, see exclusive preview art for future issues of Shockrockets and Empires as well as for the upcoming series Section Zero, Tellos, and Superstar. Models DiNA: Simmons and Shannon Lower and color artist Tom Smith will also be on hand to help celebrate the long-awaited re-launch of my own Gorilla Comics title Crimson Plague, which goes on sale that very week.

Win prizes, pick up some t-shirts, posters and other Gorilla goodies, and even have your photos taken with a couple of pretty girls and an ape. This will be the only time this year that the entire gang of Gorilla creators will be appearing together, so swing on over to Charlotte and say "Ook ook" with us - and help us raise some money for two very worthy causes. You'll be pounding your chest with satisfaction.
