The events at MegaCon Orlando will be continuing in this spirit, honoring the 49 lives lost by donating all proceeds to Equality Florida, Florida’s largest civil rights organization. Over 25 contributing creators will be at the show and more than sixty original comic creations from the book as well as artwork donated by creators who did not contribute to the final book will be on the auction block in this fundraising event. The artwork will be on display all weekend at MegaCon Orlando and there is a cocktail reception on Friday, May 26 (tickets are $150 and very limited), and the actual auction is on Saturday, May 27 and is hosted by Dan Didio, Co-Publisher - DC Comics. Marc Andreyko talks about 'Love Is Love'

posted Jan 1, 2017, 10:10 AM by Vu Nguyen

LOVE IS LOVE (28 Dec 2016)
    IDW Publishing

Comic book writer Marc Andreyko was hit hard by the Pulse nightclub shooting in Orlando, Fla., so he decided to do something about it, reaching out to mastermind what became the new 144-page all-star comic book anthology "Love Is Love."

    (excerpt)

Andreyko wrote an homage to the 1950s romance comic "Falling In Love," with a happy couple walking through a park and seeing straight, gay and transgender couples of all ages, illustrated by legendary comics artist George Perez.

Andreyko said he was inspired and overwhelmed by how everyone came together on the book, with companies even granting permission to use characters from Superman to Archie.

"If it's the last thing I'm known for, or the only thing I'm known for in my obituary, I'm good with that," Andreyko said. "The fact that this book might make a teenager in Oklahoma's life a little bit easier and give them hope — I mean, what's not to like about that?"

All The Copies Of Love Is Love In Stores Are Second Prints – But The First Print Is Still Coming

Posted by Rich Johnston December 30, 2016

The copies of Love Is Love from DC/IDW that appeared in comic book stores this week all have Second Printing on them. Some people think it’s an error. It’s not. They really are the second print of the anthology, raising money and awareness for the victims and families of the Orlando nightclub shootings earlier this year.

That’s because there was a post-production delay on the first printing of the book. The UPC barcode was misprinted, and needed a sticker adding to every copy. To the extent that the publishers issued a second printing.

But this the second printing turned up early, and got to market before the first print, and filled the orders before the New Year.

    (excerpt)

But the first print? Still on its way, I understand. As will a third print. Just, you know, not in the order one might expect. Retailers have been told they could return the second printing if they wanted. But seriously, why the hell would they given the demand for any printing right now?

The Love Is Love graphic novel, co-published by IDW Publishing and DC Entertainment in support of the Pulse Nightclub shooting victims (see “‘Love Is Love’ GN Honors Pulse Victims”), got a pre-release push last week via an appearance by project organizer Mark Andreyko and actor/comedian Taran Killam on Late Night with Seth Meyers.  The two were interviewed about the project, and Meyers displayed pages involving both creators, including a piece of George Perez art for which Andreyko did the writing.

    (excerpt)

The volume had a good initial press push in September, including major media such as the New York Times and Los Angeles Times, but this was another good reminder to fans to visit their comic shops this Wednesday, when the book is released.

's creators, Taran Killam and Marc Andreyko, was on Late Night with Seth Meyers last night (December 19th) to talk about their graphic novel for the Pulse Victims. One of the first pages Meyers displayed was none other than George Perez's piece.

    Excerpt:

Meyers: This is one you did with George Perez, correct?

Andreyko: Yeah I got to write for George Perez. For the non-comic people, he's like the Orson Welles of comic books. Being able to work with him is crazy.

LOVE IS LOVE (28 Dec 2016)
    IDW Publishing
Love is Love is arriving in comic stores on 28 December 2016.  All proceeds from the comic book will be going to the  victims, survivors, and their families, of the horrific mass shooting at the Pulse nightclub in Orlando, Florida.  George Perez, Phil Jimenez, Olivier Coipel, etc., are among some of the talented artists contributing to this comic book.

Read more about the book at nytimes.com, latimes.com and idwpublishing.com.

Excerpt from the NY Times article:

The comic book author and screenwriter Marc Andreyko felt unfathomable horror when he heard the news of the June 12 mass shooting at the Pulse nightclub in Orlando, Fla. Feeling compelled to help, he posted on Facebook a suggestion to create a comic book that would benefit the victims.

The result is “Love Is Love,” a 144-page anthology filled with original work by contributors both familiar and unexpected. The book, which will be available Dec. 28, includes pages from the documentarian Morgan Spurlock, the actor Matt Bomer, the comedians Patton Oswalt and Taran Killam, and other entertainers.
