DC's new incarnation of The Brave and
the Bold gets the cover spotlight in the latest issue of CBG. Their
look at the new series is backed up by a great overview of some of the
pivotal (and sometimes overlooked) moments from the long-running
original. Also in this issue, Harlan Ellison revisits his Dream
Corridor, Marty Nodell and Dave Cockrum are eulogized, and Mr. Silver
Age holds court on Superman's legendary pals. Another fun issue!
DC has revived its
long-running team-up and tryout title, The Brave and the Bold and
Comics Buyer's Guide #1627 features an exclusive original cover
featuring Batman, Green Lanter, and Supergirl by Dick Giordano and an
inside look at the new series as well as Captain Comics' retrospective
of the original series.
Mr. Silver Age looks at Superman's run-ins with mythic and legendary heroes.
Harlan Ellison not only
talks about his upcoming Dream Corridor collection, but also reviews
Artbox's Frankenstein trading cards.
Speaking of double features, we have not one, but two Top 10 Favorite Covers lists this issue!
Finally, Maggie Thompson looks at the earliest film adaptations of comic strips.
All this and more, plus the largest and most complete monthly price guide in comics.
It's all in Comics Buyer's Guide #1627, shipping soon!
From last month's Previews (for items scheduled to ship Jan. 2007), here's a part of the solicitation copy for Comics Buyer's Guide #1627:
"Get brave and bold with DC as the classic team-up series returns! CBG #1627 has the inside scoop with artist George Perez and writer Mark Waid!"
Since CBG #1625 arrived in stores on November 22nd, I'd say #1627 will arrive in mid/late January.
Just a note - sometimes CBG doesn't
come out as 'advertised.' The Previews listing had #1625 as featuring
"an exclusive original Avengers cover" but the issue shipped with a JSA
cover instead.
