While fashionistas debate the latest fur war, Un Chin Magazine is
expanding the meaning of couture by promoting the same underground
trends that reestablished denim as the king of style.
The "Breakthrough" issue is ushered in with a fashion show featuring
celebrity models including indie film star Judy Marte who will be making
her Hollywood debut this spring.
The issue party and fashion show will be held on Thursday, March 31,
2005 at club GLO, 431 West 16th Street between 9th and 10th Avenues,
with the doors opening at 6:00 p.m. and the fashion show beginning at
8:00 p.m. sharp.
This "first of its kind" fashion event will be a multi-media light show
and extravaganza that will highlight underground T-shirt designers
including Modafoca, Tichel, J-Louise, Macoris New York, Spoon Fed,
Queens Finest and Republica Trading Co.
The convergence of style, hot music and beautiful people promises the hottest event welcoming in the spring.
"There is a whole group of people who know the designers we will feature
and another group that will be meeting them for the first time. When we
use the word 'breakthrough' we are talking about the latest trends as
well as people that have been working long and hard, but are under the
radar. We will bring these artists and personalities to the forefront
with both the issue and this event," shared Ramon Veras, editor and
publisher of Un Chin.
On the cover of the "Breakthrough" issue is Hollywood actress Zoe
Saldana who has been in over a dozen films including “Pirates of the
Caribbean” with Johnny Depp and currently in “Guess Who” with Ashton
The magazine also features other artists like: comic book giant George
Perez; queen of Spanish hip-hop La Mala Rodriguez and the recent
Oscar-winning songwriter Jorge Drexler.
