    • Teen Titans Go! Celebrates 200 Episodes From washingtonpost.com TEEN TITANS GO! TO THE MOVIES (27 Jul 2018) Cartoon Network Excerpt: “A lot of comic book fans maybe look down at our show for not being so serious,” Jelenic said. “But at the same time it’s all these younger fans [of ‘Teen Titans Go!’] who are what’s going to keep comic books going for the next generation.” For now, Michael Jelenic and Aaron Horvath can celebrate Friday’s 200th episode, in which they star as animated versions of themselves taking a break from writing, forcing the Titans to write the episode themselves or fade from existence. The pair also recently announced a “Teen Titans Go!” movie arriving in theaters in 2018.

The IRS has finally got around to penalizing (with interest) to writer Peter David for tax invasion for taxes owed for the Canadian television show Space Cases (1996-1997).

    Details at gofundme.com

    Peter David writes:

Campaign, Day Four – the Second Thank You Gift reached

I continue to be stunned by the generosity of both fans and friends. It never occurred to me that we would reach the $55,000 level in four days.

It helps that I have some incredibly generous friends. George Takei, JMS and Wendy & Richard Pini each donated $1000 on GoFundMe while George Perez donated an astounding $5000.

Meanwhile I went to the PO box today for the first time, wondering if I would find anything to autograph. Instead there were simply half a dozen letters (and one card) with checks enclosed. They weren’t asking for anything; they were instead thanking me for the years of enjoyment they’ve derived from my work. I assume because they sent checks they want anonymity, but one fan–you know who you are, Susan–sent a check for $2000. It’s astounding.

You have to understand that being a writer (or an artist for that matter) is fundamentally a lonely life. You have no coworkers in your office typically. It’s just you and the computer screen or art board, and you do your work and toss it out there and hope that maybe, just maybe, people like your work. If this endeavor to get myself out from under has proven anything to me, it’s that you guys are terrific. It makes my life’s work seem worthwhile.

    DC Comics
While I'm not a fan of all of Peter David's work, I am a huge fan of artist George Perez. And I've enjoyed Sachs' and Violens' appearances in Fallen Angel.

This trade paperback collects the original miniseries from 1993, where writer Peter David uses these characters to examine the differences between sex and violence, which are so often grouped together, while being nothing alike.

That said, the story itself isn't high art. It's exploitative. It features a softcore "adult" model (Sachs) and photographer (Violens) in an adventure taking them through the seedy world of snuff movies, and beyond. It's a fun read, albeit nothing groundbreaking. Just fun.

They are two people who battle some of the greatest evils of our society: Pornography. Murder. White Slavery. Religious fanaticism. And why do they do it? Because they get an erotic charge from risking their lives. SACHS AND VIOLENS created a sensation when their miniseries first debuted in 1993. Now, for the first-time ever, the saga from New York Times best-selling author Peter David (AQUAMAN, Star Trek: Imzadi) and acclaimed artist George Pérez (CRISIS ON INFINITE EARTHS, JLA/AVENGERS) is collected in a single volume, with a new cover by Pérez and an introduction from David!

SACHS AND VIOLENS (Spain) (Nov 1994)

SACHS & VIOLENS TPB (Dec 2006)
    DC Comics

SACHS & VIOLENS COLLECTED IN DECEMBER BY DC
    05-12-2006, 12:45 PM

    (excerpt)

“The advantage here was that Peter and I own the copyrights to Sachs and Violens, and once Marvel stopped using it, it was pretty easy to get, which is how Peter was able to use them in Fallen Angel,” Perez told Newsarama when asked how the collection ended up at DC. “As a reprint collection, it bounced around from one company to another, and it seemed like it was going to be reprinted at another house, but when DC offered to reprint the original series, which kind of stunned me, the other publisher, very nicely, gave up the rights, and I think everyone kind of acknowledged that DC will probably provide a bigger presence for it.”

Perez said that he really wasn’t too involved in the details further than that, pointing to David as the prime mover. “The advantage to working on a book where you have someone as…for lack of a better term, aggressive, as Peter, is that I can let him do the work as far as the negotiations go, and I’m there to draw the book, or provide the art that’s needed.”
