ROBOTIC STOOGES #1 (Apr 2021)
American Mythology
ROBOTIC STOOGES:American Mythology has announced an April launch for Robotic Stooges.
Here's how the book is described:
"If you remember Saturday morning cartoons, you remember the Robonic
Stooges, which originally aired as its own series in 1977 -78. The
series featured Moe, Larry, and Curly as robonically-altered bumbling
superheroes who operated from their very own junk yard headquarters
under the direction of Agent 000 (pronounced Oh-Oh-Oh), who ran the
Super Hero Employment Agency! The series was developed by Norman Maurer,
Moe Howard's son-in-law and the creative force behind The Three Stooges
comics of the 60s and 70s. The standalone series ran for 16 episodes,
and American Mythology Comics decided, well, that just wasn¡¯t enough
robo-stoogeness!"
The book will launch with "The Imbecile Gauntlet," by Three Stooges¡¯
long-time scribe, S.A. Check. The story pits The Robonic Stooges against
the inter-galactic threat known as Oreganose.
The second story for the issue, "Fright at the Museum," was written by
Jordan Gershowitz, with art by Jorge Pachecho and Philip Murphy.
Cover for the issue is by Eric Shanower and Pacheco.

On May 21, 1991, the Mad Titan upended existence with a single click of
his fingers, killing 50% of life, and leaving the Super Heroes of the
Marvel universe with the greatest fight in history ahead of them. Led by
the resurrected Adam Warlock and aided by primal cosmic forces, Earth's
protectors entered cosmic warfare in a six-issue event written by Jim
Starlin and featuring the art of George Perez and Ron Lim. And 28 years
later, the reverberations of this one action are still echoing across

Avengers Vs X-Men #1
by Jim Cheung (June 2012)
When a young mutant threatened to become the new incarnation of
the deadly Phoenix Force, the Avengers and X-Men came into conflict over
how to deal with the situation. Few artists could handle such a

distinction, managing to get across both the tension and danger of the
two teams facing off against each other.

Perez produced a stunning piece of work for the debut issue. The piece
not only established the threat but also the sheer scale of the event.

From geek-news.mtv.com
What makes something an “event” comic? Is it the
sheer number of issues? The number of characters? The impact on the
Universe? Sure, it’s those things, but it’s also a combination of those
factors – and more than that, its lasting impact on the readers in the
long run. Events like Atlantis Attacks over at Marvel, or Invasion at DC
might be remembered fondly; but they’re not seminal works that changed
the way comics are made. Okay, maybe some of the books on our list don’t
quite fit that criteria, either… But trust us: these are the eleven
biggest comic book events – ever:
(excerpt)
INFINITY GAUNTLET #1 (Jul 1991)
CRISIS ON INFINITE EARTHS #1
(Apr 1985)
7. The Infinity Gauntlet
Basically a more refined version of the giant cosmic crossovers of 1985, The Infinity Gauntlet
found uber-baddie Thanos gaining possession of the all-powerful
Infinity Gauntlet. Since Thanos was in love with the avatar of Death, he
decided to offer a gift by erasing half of all life in the Universe…
Which didn’t sit well with, um, anyone. Massive fights don’t get much
bigger than this, as the entire Universe fought against Thanos, drawn by
the able pens of George Perez and Ron Lim (and written by Jim Starlin).
The comic was so popular, it spawned two sequels, and an ongoing
series. But the original is still the best.
1. Crisis on Infinite Earths
That said, the gold standard is still, over twenty-five years later, DC’s Crisis on Infinte Earths.
A massive villain named The Anti-Monitor, who lives in – you guessed it
– the Anti-Matter Universe wants to destroy not just all life in our
Universe, but all life in every Universe, and
every reality. Ostensibly started as a way of simplifying what DC
considered an overly complicated continuity and reboot the whole line,
Marv Wolfman and George Perez created an epic work of comics. From the
heroic death of The Flash, which used to be the manly-man hallmark
(“Sure, I’m a dude, but I cried when Barry Allen died,”), to the several
epic battles against The Anti-Monitor, this series is bigger than
anything that came before it, and really, has never been matched since.

Which
issue made you a Believer? Some would say the formation of the "new"
X-Men featuring Wolverine, Colossus and Storm in GIANT SIZE X-MEN #1.
Others read CAPTAIN AMERICA #25, and, in witnessing the heartbreaking
death of a national hero, connected. Whether it made you cheer or cry,
there is always one issue that reaffirms your faith. Stand up and let
your voice be heard.
When
you're in love with the physical embodiment of death, regular shows of
affection just won't cut it. Fortunately Thanos knows how to impress
the ladies--he kills half the universe in the first pages of this
titanic early '90s event.
