September 25th 2003 10:30 PM
written by Andy James
comiXtreme's own Andy James had the chance to visit recently with Karl
Bollers, the writer of the famed Marvel series; Emma Frost.
(excerpt)
cX: Who were your influences for wanting to break into the comics industry?
KB: Oh, man. There are so many. I grew up reading lots of different
comics-Marvel, DC, Harvey, Archie, Charlton, Gold Key, First, Eclipse-so
I’m sure I have influences that I’m not even aware of. Some of the
comics professionals who inspired me to want to break into the industry
were Jack Kirby, Steve Ditko, Neal Adams, Gil Kane, Walt Simonson,
George Perez, Bill Sienkiewicz, Alan Moore, Neil Gaiman, Frank Miller,
Chris Claremont, John Byrne, Kyle Baker, Matt Wagner, Kevin Eastman,
Scot McCloud, John Romita Jr., Paul Smith, David Mazzuchelli, Arthur
Adams, and Michael Zulli (to name more than a couple).
