Sex 101: What is Fetish Con? posted Aug 16, 2009 2:15 PM by vu sleeper From examiner.com ![]() August 16, 9:17 AMPhiladelphia Sex Advice ExaminerRobin Cooper (excerpt) This week in Tampa, FL, is the 9th annual Fetish Con, an event that has grown even bigger than it's creators ever imagined. Although it's a little late to get there for this year (it ran from August 13th through August 16th), it's definitely an event to look into for next year's vacation. With guests of honor ranging from latex queens to BDSM beauties and featured appearances from celebrities such as comic book writer and artist, George Perez and Tony Moran, the Halloween series' original "Michael Meyers," Fetish Con is an event to experience. Events include lectures, post-festival parties, workshops and demonstrations. Not to mention, the festival is a place where fetish-based companies can come and flaunt their goods. Local and semi-local Fetish Con 2009 vendors include photographers such as Lebanon County's ScottChurch** (his work is updated daily on his livejournal and myspace pages) and LC from neighboring New York City's LC's Misfit Studios (both photographers have published a few books), as well as Philadelphia's own Passional Boutique. Taking the vacation wouldn't only be supporting acceptance for sexual diversity, but it would also help support local businesses and be a lot of fun. Kinky is commonplace at annual fetish convention posted Aug 15, 2009 8:51 PM by vu sleeper From tbo.com Tribune photo by JULIE BUSCH Fred Nolan is fire-cupped during a demonstration at Fetish Con on Saturday. By SARAH HOYE Published: August 15, 2009 (excerpt) Comics artist George Perez was walking the aisles taking in the sights. Perez, known for his superhero illustrations including the current Wonder Woman comic, Teen Titans and the X-Men, attended Fetish Con for the superhero catfights. His first Fetish Con was in 2006, where he was more surprised by the number of people who knew him than what was at the fetish booths. "Suddenly, I was a celebrity," said Perez, who lives in Sanford with his wife of 28 years. "I'm a big Fetish Con fan. It's wonderful to meet these free-spirited people. Everyone here is accepted for whatever their kinky bend is." The event features models, producers, fans and exhibitors showcasing their wares and providing demonstrations. A day-pass cost $25 or $55 to attend for the entire weekend. After incidentals, organizers stand to make around $45,000.
