83. GETTING PIN-UPS AT MEGA-CON 2006
May 17th 2007
(excerpt)
I decided to just poke up to George Perez, Sal Buscema, and Dick
Giordano, all of whom had long lines. George Perez was signing tons of
books. One guy brought like ten or twenty copies each of maybe five
items. We’re talking fifty or a hundred signatures. And since it was a
bunch of copies of the same items, it was obvious they weren’t for his
personal collection. He even said they were all for ebay. I think if I
were famous, and someone brought a stack like that to me, I would just
tell them, look, you’re asking me for a free signature, and you’re gonna
make out on all that. I’ll sign one of each of those, but you’re just
taking advantage.
When I asked him about a pin-up, George said he was under exclusive
contract. He was making a ton of great-looking convention sketches. Next
up, Sal said to talk to his manager, which I did, and managed to get
set up for a pin-up commission. Both Sal and his manager were very
sweet, and very supportive of the fact I’m self-publishing.

Better Scan of the jam. George Perez on sentry Bryan Hitch on Cap Marc
Silvestri on Wolverine and Spider-Woman Ed Mcguiness on Iron-man Arthur
Adams on Spidey
New Avengers Jam part 4 and 5
Sunday, August 13, 2006 8:46:40 AM
Just got this back in the mail. I had
this done at heroes con 06. Ed Mcguiness did Iron-Man on the jam and of
course Art Adams did the Amazing Spider-Man. Both of them look even
better in person. The image is kinda crappy since my scanner broke and I
had to use my digital camera. I'll try to get a better scan in the
future. Now all that is left is Luke Cage. Much Thanks to Ed, Art, John
F, Rich D, and Paul Singh.

Updated with Pencils from George Perez on
the Sentry from Megacon. I believe this was the first time George has
done the sentry part three pencils from Marc Silvestri on Wolverine
(brown costume) and Spider-Woman. Thanks to Bridget from
marcsilvestri.com and an assist from Rich D. on resizing this form me.

MEGACON DAY 1
(excerpt)
We made our way past George Perez’s line,
which was reasonable at the time and then turned into a pretty
spectacular line later on. We found our spot in the middle of the room
surrounded by our good friends Adam Hughes and Phil Noto. Across from us
was Billy Tucci making noise and playing with the fans in his own
special way. Anyway, I throw down my original art pile and turn around
spend a few minutes yelling at Phil for selling three huge painted
pieces for way too little money and then gave Adam Hughes some drawing
tips on how to illustrate woman’s breasts. Not. Across from us was
Captain America artist Mike Perkins who was selling his art for too
cheap as well…another guy just giving it away. Thank God I am there to
point it out. (laughs)

From George Pérez
This is a list of the comics conventions I will be attending in 2006.
Some are "rain-check" appearances for shows that I had to cancel in 2005
due to health reasons. In some cases this puts me in a position of
attending some conventions on back-to-back weekends, but it couldn't be
helped. I hope to be able to get together with a lot of my fans next
year and will be warming up my autograph hand.
February 24th - 26th: MegaCon, Orlando, FL
April 21st - 23rd: Pittsburgh Comicon, Monroeville, PA
April 28th - 30th: Paradise Toronto Comicon, Toronto, Canada
May 19th - 21st: Motor City Con, Novi, Michigan
June 30th - July 2nd: Heroes Con, Charlotte, NC
July 20th - 23rd: Comicon International, San Diego, CA
September 1st- 4th: Dragon Con, Atlanta, GA
September 9th - 10th: Baltimore Comic Con, Baltimore, MD
I will also be attending the October Portland, OR show for Second
Genesis (another rain-check from 2005) but I still have no confirmed
date.
That should keep me busy for the year in between issues of THE BRAVE AND THE BOLD.
