This con sketch of Aquaman with Mera appearing in somewhat ghostly form behind him comes with a story, so I'll let newest F.O.A.M. member Kent G. Hare tell it:
"I'm
a bit dilatory in submitting this, but would like to share it with you
in anyway. Last weekend I attended Wizard World New Orleans Comic Con
where I had the pleasure of meeting George Perez and getting a sketch
from him of my first favorite comic book character, Aquaman. There's a
funny story to accompany it.

Unfortunately, I didn't get to enjoy
much of the New Orleans environs due to non-stop sketching during the
show itself, so I only managed to take a few pictures.

Aspiring comic creators seek advice at Comic Con

Hundreds of fans piled into a conference hall to hoot and holler for the
stars of TV shows like “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” and “The Walking
Dead” today at New Orleans Comic Con. Down the hall, in a smaller,
quieter meeting space, two-dozen eager fans gathered to pick the brains
of a different breed of celebrity: the comic book creator.
Most
fans roaming the halls of the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center this
weekend wouldn’t recognize Superman artists George Perez and Jesus
Merino, or Thomas Yeates, who has drawn Tarzan and Zorro comics, or
Tyler Kirkham, whose work includes Spider-Man and X-Men books. But to
the aspiring artists and writers attending their Q&A sessions, these
men are Comic Con royalty.
George Perez has offered to sign a limited number of comic books at an
exclusive Paradise Comics event during the Wizard World New Orleans
Comic Con 2012 with proceeds raised going to the Hero Initiative. George
Perez is famous for illustrating Crisis on Infinite Earths,
JLA/Avengers, Superman, and The New Teen Titans.
People can submit their books to Paradise Comics by January 20, 2012 or to the CGC booth during the convention.
Prices are $38 per book, which includes $10 going to the Hero
Initiative. CGC has a new $5 submission fee (per submission, not per
book)
I'm not in Austin this year for SXSW, but, per tradition, we are
semi-covering it this year. Here are some SXSW announcements that were
sent to me. Since I get over 100 emails a day, please put "SXSW" in
your headline subject, otherwise your message will not be read or used
for a future SXSW announcement.
