ATARI AGE #3 (Sep/Oct 1982)
The Atari Club

stanspreviouslyownedvessels writes:

We have here the original cover painting for Atari Age Magazine Vol. 1, No. 3, featuring characters from the Swordquest games, drawn by legendary comic book artist George Perez.

This piece comes from the estate sale of gaming journalist and Atari Age founding editor Steve Morgenstern, better remembered as "Captain Steve" to kids whose questions he responded to on the magazine's letter page. As the official fan publication of the famed company, Atari Age was the first publication in the world devoted solely to video games of any kind.

The painting above measures 26"x16," and has been matted and framed in a plain black 29" x 20" frame with Plexiglass.

This piece is due to be featured in Tim Lapetino's forthcoming art book The Art of Atari: From Pixels to Paintbrushes.
