George Perez's rejected DC art submission in 1972/1973.

If you were wondering, Marvel Comics hired George Perez (through Rich Buckler's assistant art team - George was drawing backgrounds and other things to help Buckler meet deadlines) in 1974. First official Marvel work appeared in Deathlok in ASTONISHING TALES #25 (Aug 1974), then MONSTERS UNLEASHED #7 (Aug 1974).

DC Comics didn't actually hire George until 1980, thanks to Marv Wolfman. First DC work appeared in FLASH #289 (Sep 1980). The rest is history, as they say.
