I have just learned that letterer Gaspar Saladino passed away on August 4th, 2016, at the age of 88.  From 1966 to the 1990s, Gaspar lettered most of DC Comics' covers - including logos, titles, captions and balloons.

While there are many people involved in producing a comic book, none were more underappreciated than the letterer (who often went uncredited for their work!).  Rest in peace, Gaspar.
