Friday, January 23, 2009

Overstreet's FAN #1

Overstreet's FAN #2

OVERSTREET'S FAN #4 (04 Sep 1995)
Overstreet’s FAN was a monthly magazine devoted to comic books, character collectibles, and entertainment. With market reports and a price guide that featured monthly updates for key issues listed in The Overstreet Comic Book Price Guide, it tracked the world of collectible comics. Feature stories were often included, as well as interviews and reviews from some of the hottest industry stars of the time. Columnists included Neil Gaiman, Frank Miller, Beau Smith, and others.

Among the key feature articles were "Superman vs. Aliens" (FAN #1), an interview with Batman artist Kelley Jones (FAN #2), extensive Staman coverage (FAN #6), the end of Sandman (FAN #8), and many others.

Just skimming the surface, some of the characters and titles covered included Spider-Man, the X-Men, The Tick, Poison Elves, Star Wars, Stray Bullets, The Big Guy, and Rusty the Boy Robot, AstroCity, Gen13, Babylon 5, Batman, Superman, and Onslaught, among others. Creators spotlighted included George Perez, Jim Lee, Mickey Spillane, Max Allan Collins, Billy Tucci, Rob Liefeld, Jim Valentino, Erik Larsen, and Paul Dini, just to name a few of the many featured.

An outgrowth of Overstreet’s Comic Book Monthly, Overstreet’s FAN debuted in 1995 and was published for 24 issues. Most of the issues came with the choice of two separate covers; with cover art by some of the best in the field. Beginning on Friday, January 23, 2009, select issues will finally be released from the vault for your purchasing pleasure. Issues #1, #2, #3, #4, #8, and #12 are the first set that will be available exclusively through Gemstone Publishing. All of the issues come polybagged and in their original condition; many of which include special feature prizes such as trading cards, card games, mini-comics, mini-catalogs, and posters. If you would like to take advantage of the first set of FAN issues, visit www.gemstonepub.com or click here. Be sure to keep an eye on Scoop for future releases of these great editions!
