George Perez receives the Will Eisner Hall of Fame Award George Perez canceled all comic book convention, because of recent heart attack …

Today, December 9th, is the 20th anniversary of my little George Perez Website (george-perez.net), a website dedicated to comic book artist George Perez.

I first discovered Perez’s work with Crisis on Infinite Earths #1 in April 1985 and have been collecting his art since then. In order to maintain a growing database of my Perez checklist, I had hand-coded html files, meant for my personal computer only.

After securing a webhost via Fresno State University, on December 9, 1998, I’ve decided to upload what I had written onto the world wide web. You have to remember, this was in 1998, when the internet was in its infancy.

The checklist remained somewhat static until I started collecting George Perez news in April 2000, and thus upgraded the website to version 2. Throughout the years, the website went onto many different servers, but ultimate, trying to keep cost down, I had to eventually had to shut down the website on July 10, 2007.

The current Version 4 of the George Perez Website went online Jul 12, 2008 3:56 PM, just slightly one year after it was shut down.

I’m still very proud of my work on the website and hope to be online for another twenty years.

Brief timeline:

  • December 9, 1998 - Version 1
  • May 6, 2000 - Version 2
  • October 27, 2006 - Version 3
  • July 10, 2007 - on break for one year
  • Jul 12, 2008 3:56 PM - Version 4 (current version)
  • December 9, 2018 - 20th Anniversary

It's been a long road, but george-perez.net is still around. Yes, I still George Perez's art, and, yes, I still collect comic books. I wouldn't be doing this, unless my heart's in it. And thank you to my supporters over the years: George, Ilke, Tony, Marcus, Andy, Doug, and too many to mention. You guys know who you are.

    Brief timeline:
    • December 9, 1998 - Version 1. George Perez Fansite started appearing on the web.
    • May 6, 2000 - Version 2. Also, added counter (set to zero)
    • October 27, 2006 - Version 3.0
    • Jul 12, 2008 3:56 PM - Version 4 (current version)
    • December 9, 2018 - 20th Anniversary

    • Busy in 2022 George Pérez writes: Hello again, my dear friends, fans and family: I hope everyone enjoyed themselves as each of you ushered in the new year in your own fashion. It looks like I will be kept quite busy in 2022 if my schedule for January alone is any indication. So many wonderful people determined to keep my days full and my spirits elevated with visits, dining and a cascade of loving texts, emails, phone calls and letters expressing love, support and gratitude. I’ve been especially touched by the number of people who have expressed gratitude for my inspiring them through my art and stories. One can never really predict or appreciate how much one’s own stories and art ...

After this 2019 convention… Hi there, friends, family and fans! Well. This past week has sure been a whirlwind of life-affirming activity! In addition to the spectacular cosplay shoot on December 18th (which was quickly followed by a scrumptious Italian dinner with close friends at the hotel restaurant) , every day of my calendar since then has been filled with social activity wherein I enjoyed dinner and/or lunch with even more beloved friends and family—and I even got in a couple of private book signings ...

Although someone joked that this looked similar to “The Last Supper”, believe me, that’s far, far from the truth. I intend to enjoy plenty more meals with many more friends before I finally partakeof MY last supper! https://www.facebook.com/TheGeorgePerez/photos/a.111280888066453/112502754610933

After this 2019 convention… Yesterday I had the great pleasure of sharing a lunch and memories with my brother David who flew in from Taos, NM to see me and visit our parents in southern Florida. It was a joyous reunion since David and I had not seen each other in over a year and we can't know whether we'd ever be seeing each other again. Although, knowing my kid brother, it's more likely that we will. I love him so much! Later that ...

  • Site Update (03/04/14): Twitter
    posted Mar 4, 2014, 9:31 AM by Vu Nguyen   [ updated Mar 4, 2014, 3:40 PM ]

Vu here. It's been a long time since I actually wrote about what's going on.

I've recently updated the main news page to display a Twitter feed to show any "perezartist" so I can keep track of what's going on. Unfortunately, the ad takes up the entire length of the webpage that I had to hide portion of it. I don't think anyone is complaining.  Let me know if you're having difficulties viewing page.  I've optimize the look for iPad, but it should display just fine on a regular computer browser.   The first table will automatically scale to your screen.

UNFORTUNATELY: If you are viewing on a screen smaller than 1280 1024 pixels, it may look awful.  If this affects you, please email me at vu at weheartmusic.com and if I get enough complaints, I will redesign the page.

For most people, the website should look fine. See images below for comparison:

I'm not too crazy about Facebook, but for those who would rather keep updated on things exclusively through the service, I've created a page: facebook.com.  You can "like" it and updates will appear on your newsfeed.

When google open up their Google+ service, I will also create a page for that.

Here's some music for the weekend:

    >>>

    KREAYSHAWN
    kreayshawn.tumblr.com

I normally don't write about hip-hop, but it's really hard to ignore lady rapper Kreayshawn. I first heard about her from The Daily, the description I took away from reading the article was that she the "anti-Rebecca Black" and how she wasn't very "Disney".

She drinks and she smokes and she doesn't give a f___. She's also into tumblr, twitter, fashion (but hell to the no to Gucci, Fendi, Louis Vuitton, or Prada), and eye-gouging animated gifs.

With over nine million youtube views for her break out hit song, "Gucci Gucci", it's easy to see why Columbia Records signed her up quickly.

The gadget spec URL could not be found
I am in the middle of updating old archive material and breaking down the checklist structure (for instance Superman), so you will likely see broken links to images.  Please be patience.

Going through version 3, I noticed that there was an old messageboard (which admittedly was never popular with few users and feedback).

Update: I've added a Google+ button. I can't seem to get it to work with my profiles.google.com account.  Let me know if you're having trouble getting it to work either, right now it just shows "zero".
