Today, December 9th, is the 20th anniversary of my little George Perez Website ( george-perez.net), a website dedicated to comic book artist George Perez.
I first discovered Perez’s work with Crisis on Infinite Earths #1
in April 1985 and have been collecting his art since then. In order
to maintain a growing database of my Perez checklist, I had hand-coded
html files, meant for my personal computer only.
After securing a webhost via Fresno State University, on December 9,
1998, I’ve decided to upload what I had written onto the world wide web.
You have to remember, this was in 1998, when the internet was in its
infancy.
The checklist remained somewhat static until I started collecting George
Perez news in April 2000, and thus upgraded the website to version 2.
Throughout the years, the website went onto many different servers, but
ultimate, trying to keep cost down, I had to eventually had to shut
down the website on July 10, 2007.
The current Version 4 of the George Perez Website went online Jul 12,
2008 3:56 PM, just slightly one year after it was shut down.
I’m still very proud of my work on the website and hope to be online for another twenty years.
Brief timeline:
December 9, 1998 - Version 1
May 6, 2000 - Version 2
October 27, 2006 - Version 3

July 10, 2007 - on break for one year

RIP George Perez
To all of George’s fans and friends,
Constance here, with the update no one wants to read. George passed away yesterday, peacefully at home with his wife of 490 months and family by his side. He was not in pain and knew he was very, very loved.
We are all very much grieving but, at the same time, we are so incredibly grateful for the joy he brought to our lives. To know George was to love him; and he loved back. Fiercely and with his whole heart. The world is a lot less vibrant today without him in it.
He loved all of you. He loved hearing your posts and seeing the drawings you sent and the tributes ...

DC Celebrating George Perez for all of June
From dccomics.com
DC will celebrate the 68th birthday of George Pérez, one of the titans of the comic industry, with a two-page spread featuring some of his most beloved characters in each of its June periodical releases. Working from a layout designed by Dan Jurgens, some of the industry’s biggest names including Jim Lee, Walter Simonson, Alex Ross, Dave Gibbons, Todd McFarlane, Daniel Sampere, Jerry Ordway, Nicola Scott and many more, collaborated on the colorful spread.
“When I was asked to come up with a design and layout that would honor George Pérez and his many incredible contributions to DC Comics over the years, I was truly honored,” said Dan Jurgens. “I have admired George’s work ...

George Pérez writes:
George was incredibly touched when he saw this beautiful tribute from Marvel Comics.
He's spending his time at home with Carol, making the most of his days and remains in good spirits. He is so grateful for all the love and support.
For those who didn't know these drawings appeared first in Avengers Finale (2004) with art by George, inks by Mike Perkins.

Hi everyone,
Last week George was in a lot of pain and we discovered it was due to an issue with his gallbladder. This caused a very serious infection. The decision was made to treat this using antibiotics and a tube to decompress the gallbladder. This went well and he has recovered from the infection.
However, in the days following the drain occluded, causing pain and leakage. This was a huge quality of life issue. He was admitted back to the hospital on ...

Site Update (03/04/14): Twitter

Vu here. It's been a long time since I actually wrote about what's going on.
I've recently updated the main news page to display a Twitter feed to
show any "perezartist" so I can keep track of what's going on.
Unfortunately, the ad takes up the entire length of the webpage that I
had to hide portion of it. I don't think anyone is complaining.
Let me know if you're having difficulties viewing page. I've optimize
the look for iPad, but it should display just fine on a regular computer
browser. The first table will automatically scale to your screen.
UNFORTUNATELY: If you are viewing on a screen smaller than 1280
1024 pixels, it may look awful. If this affects you, please email me
at vu at weheartmusic.com and if I get enough complaints, I will
redesign the page.
For most people, the website should look fine. See images below for comparison:

I'm not too crazy about Facebook, but for those who would rather keep updated on things exclusively through the service, I've created a page: facebook.com. You can "like" it and updates will appear on your newsfeed.
When google open up their Google+ service, I will also create a page for that.
Here's some music for the weekend:
>>>
KREAYSHAWN
kreayshawn.tumblr.com
I normally don't write about hip-hop, but it's really hard to ignore lady rapper Kreayshawn. I first heard about her from The Daily, the description I took away from reading the article was that she the "anti-Rebecca Black" and how she wasn't very "Disney".
She drinks and she smokes
and she doesn't give a f___. She's also into tumblr, twitter, fashion
(but hell to the no to Gucci, Fendi, Louis Vuitton, or Prada), and
eye-gouging animated gifs.
With over nine million youtube views
for her break out hit song, "Gucci Gucci", it's easy to see why Columbia
Records signed her up quickly.

I am in the middle of updating old archive material and breaking down the checklist structure (for instance Superman), so you will likely see broken links to images. Please be patience.
Going through version 3, I noticed that there was an old messageboard
(which admittedly was never popular with few users and feedback).
Update: I've added a Google+ button. I can't seem to get it to work with my profiles.google.com account. Let me know if you're having trouble getting it to work either, right now it just shows "zero".
